About
About Laboratory
Our laboratory pursues drug discovery research and the development of functional molecules, grounded in synthetic organic chemistry and organic photochemistry.
Through precise molecular design and reaction control, we aim to create novel bioactive compounds and highly functional organic molecules, while exploring their applications in medicine, life sciences, and materials science. We are also developing new molecular transformations using light and asymmetric catalysis, and investigating their reaction mechanisms, with the goal of establishing sustainable and highly efficient methods for organic synthesis. By balancing the pursuit of organic chemistry as a fundamental science with application-oriented research aimed at social implementation, we promote interdisciplinary research.
Itoh Laboratory was established in 2026, ten years after the Kumamoto Earthquake. As we move forward, we remain mindful of the hardships endured by those affected by the disaster and of the efforts of many people who have contributed to Kumamoto’s recovery. With this awareness, we are committed to sincerely advancing education and research in nanoscience.
